History of the Republic Of Baüme

Pre-Baüme History:

Billings, Montana, began as a railroad town in 1882, founded when the Northern Pacific Railroad pushed west through the Yellowstone Valley. Indigenous peoples had long used the area and were later explored by William Clark in 1806, whose name is preserved at nearby Pompey’s Pillar. Once the railroad arrived, Billings grew rapidly into a shipping and supply center for cattle ranching, farming, and trade, earning the nickname “The Magic City” for its rapid development. Its location along the Yellowstone River helped it become a key economic hub for eastern Montana.

As Billings expanded through the early and mid-20th century, growth moved beyond the original downtown area. Industry, oil refining, and agriculture supported steady population increases, especially after World War II. New neighborhoods formed as people sought housing outside the older city core, aided by highways and improved transportation. During this time, the Rimrocks — the sandstone cliffs overlooking the city — became a defining geographic feature that shaped where and how the city grew.

The Billings Heights developed north of the Rimrocks and was originally farmland and open prairie. Major residential growth began in the mid-1900s, and the area saw especially rapid expansion in the 1970s. Due to its growing population, the Heights was annexed into the City of Billings in the 1980s. Today, the Heights is one of the city’s largest and fastest-growing areas, known for its suburban neighborhoods, commercial corridors, and strong connection to the rest of Billings.

Global Stuggles:

The U.S. had housing problems in 2007 with the Great Recession, the largest economic catastrophe since the Great Depression. In the 2010s and early 2020s, the United States has experienced increased political paranoia. The country's paranoia was reflected in the January 2021 Capitol attack, when a mob of insurrectionists entered the U.S. Capitol and sought to prevent the transfer of power. The world experienced one of the largest pandemics, known as Covid-19 or coronavirus, in 2020. In 2022, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine due to a national security threat from NATO. In 2023, Israel attacked Palestine and started one of the worst genocides the world has seen.

Independence from Corruption:

Starting on October 8th, 2025, the first talk of separation began. The now Second Chair President and Main Security Director were in favor of succeeding under the leadership of President Biden, but with the elections in November, the succession process stopped. Following the election year, Donald J. Trump started his second presidency after beating Kamala Harris in the election. Most talks about separation halted until the left side started firing at the right. With this unrest and confusion in the nation, the current Second Chair President got the idea again to separate from the American Union to avoid a conflict between the two parties in the local city. On February 2nd, 2025, the nation declared independence from the United States of America. A declaration of separation was officially written, which made the separation official. Following this, the Guccist Party was created and immediately took control of the Government, leading and guiding it. Jameson Guccione took the presidency and formed the Guccist Party. The Republic separated with around 100 square yards of territory in its first area (then renamed to Alkali Region). The first borders were created using tarps and wood, and the first version of the flag was created. Following this, the military was formed, and a science program was started. A response from the USA was never given to the separation, so it is classified as a non-violent succession.

Lithium Projects and the organization of Oblasts:

From February to May of 2025, the Guccist Party formed the 3 regions of Baüme to separate the nation to govern more efficiently. These would be split into the Alkali Region, the Dekter Region, and the Cali-Dixon Region. The formation of the regions began in February with the creation of Fort Baum which would become the center of the Alkali Region. Then, the Dekter Region was created (First named to Sandstone) and the Cali-Dixon Region. In late 2025, they would be renamed to Oblasts to better fit the Russian culture. The Oblasts would have 5 different regions, the Peshchera Oblast, the Bomber Oblast the Dekter Oblast, the Martinsk Oblast, and the Peschanik Oblast. 

The Military of the Republic began to harvest lithium batteries of electrical cigarettes (also known as e-cigarettes or vapes) in an attempt to produce miniature explosives that could be used against prairie dog or intruders. When other scientific compounds were discovered, a branch of the military was formed to research and use compounds and chemicals for the interest of the military.

Foreign Alliances:

As nation thrived, multiple alliances were formed with nations such as Cappyland, Jeshia, and Asbest. These diplomatic relations helped spread the Republic's message and popularity, which is speculated to be a reason behind the Disaster of August 11th. The diplomatic relations didn't just stop with a few nations, but rather with tons of organizations. The Republic joined multiple coalitions such as the UMO and the UIMO to strengthen its political structure and promote the nation's message. Another diplomatic visit took place from June 4th to June 16th when the Second Chair President went on a diplomatic journey to Italy and the Vatican City. This set up a huge foothold in the nation to spread globally. Cooperation from locals, and the experience of meeting the pope gave new light to the nation and began a Catholic reformation. Following the trip to the Vatican, the Republic started an exchange program with a member in St. Petersburg, Russia. This exchange program would help the Republic seek new traditions and ideas based on the Russian culture.
