Overview:
The birth of the Republic of Baüme represents a rare moment in modern history: the peaceful emergence of a microstate born not from conquest, but from a strategic withdrawal from a fractured union. Between late 2024 and early 2025, the Republic transformed from a visionary concept into a tangible reality. This era of formation was defined by three core pillars: Physical Defense, Administrative Order, and Scientific Advancement.
The Great Secession:
(October 2024 – February 2025)
The path to sovereignty was paved with strategic patience. On October 8, 2024, the first formal discussions of separation began. The leadership, including those who would become the Second Chair President and the Main Security Director, recognized that the federal instability of the "Old World" was reaching a breaking point. While the process was briefly paused during the 2024 election cycle to observe the national outcome, the transition of power in November brought a new wave of civil unrest across the United States. Because of this, the first ever military of the Republic was formed. The first military would be called "The Reformed Militia of Montana", and was formed on October 18, 2025.
By early 2025, a majority of the RMM had accepted that a split from the United States was inevitable. The RMM had already began operations, and had spread its message of nationalism throughout the state of Montana.

The Final Decision:
(February 2, 2025)
On February 2, 2025, the silence of the Rims was broken by a historic announcement. The Republic officially declared its independence. A formal Declaration of Separation was drafted, signaling the birth of a new nation. Immediately following this, the NWPB (Then called the Guccist Party) was formed under the presidency of Jameson Guccione. This party took the reins of government, providing the disciplined leadership needed to navigate the Republic's first hours as a sovereign power.
The initial territory of the Republic was a humble but defiant hundred-square-yard claim, later designated as the Alkali Regio. These first borders were built with the materials at hand; wood and tarps, and the first national flag was raised over the ramparts. This era was marked by an incredible surge in state-building; as the first version of the flag caught the wind, the military was mobilized and a national science program was launched.

One of the most remarkable chapters of Baümen history is the "Silent Succession." Despite the bold declaration and the physical marking of borders, the United States offered no formal response. Paralyzed by its own internal divisions, the American government remained silent as the Heights asserted its autonomy. This allowed the Republic to establish its foundations through a non-violent secession, proving that sovereignty isn't just taken but it is built through the grit and resolve of a people who refuse to be ignored.
Launch of the Baümen Science Program
(February 12, 2025)
The birth of the Baümen Science Program in February 2025 was a defining moment for the Republic, proving that a microstate’s greatest weapon is its ingenuity. While larger nations relied on sprawling industrial complexes, the Republic looked to the "High-Low" philosophy, using the discarded remnants of the old world to power the innovations of the new one. In the early days of the state, science and security were inseparable, leading to the establishment of a specialized military branch with a singular mission: to master the chemical and geological properties of the plateau. This wasn't ivory-tower research; it was "Heights Grit" applied to a laboratory setting, with an initial focus on securing the borders against local environmental threats, such as the destructive prairie dog populations that undermined the foundations of the new Regios.
The program’s first major breakthrough came from an unlikely source, recycled electronics. In a move of strategic brilliance, the military began harvesting lithium components from discarded electronic devices, extracting high-energy materials to engineer specialized, miniature deterrents. These devices provided a low-cost, high-impact solution for managing intruders and protecting the integrity of the Alkali Regio, signaling that the Republic would thrive on the creative reuse of every available resource rather than relying on traditional supply chains. As the program expanded, the focus shifted toward broader chemical research, cataloging the unique minerals found within the Eagle Sandstone and the Alkali soil to find compounds for national defense and agricultural self-sufficiency. This branch of the military quickly became the intellectual backbone of the state, ensuring that the Republic of Baüme remained technologically agile. In the eyes of the NWPB, science became the "force multiplier" that allowed a hundred-yard territory to command the respect of a much larger world.
